A New Era in Cancer Care has begun– Cancer Centers of America (CCA) inaugurated in Amritsar

CCA launched the booklet “HOPE” for cancer patients and survivors educating about life after cancer treatment which also contains free check-up coupons for all the cancer patients/survivors of Punjab state for one year.


Cancer Centers of America has inaugurated its 2nd Cancer Hospital in Punjab on 4th February 2024. The hospital was inaugurated by S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Hon’ble Speaker of Punjab Vidhan Sabha, the Chief Guest for this occasion. The event also witnessed the start of 24x7 Cancer Helpline for the North India at large and Punjab in particular. Cancer Caravan along with bike rally was also be flagged off for creating awareness about Cancer.


Speaking on the occasion Dr Rajesh Sehgal, Chairman- Cancer Centers of America said “Traditionally Cancer has been considered a terminal ailment with uncertain prognosis. However over last few years technology driven improvements in diagnosis and treatment have significantly improved the survival rates. With best-in-class diagnostics modalities and treatment processes, protocols and standards, and international Tumor board where the doctors from our USA based centers join their Indian counterparts in diagnosis as well as treatment planning for every case, will ensure international standard cancer care for our Indian patients. I am feeling very happy and privileged to bring this world class cancer care center to my hometown, in collaboration with Amandeep Group of Hospitals to serve the people of this region.


Speaking on the occasion Dr Avtar Singh, Chairman, Amandeep Group of Hospitals said “We have tied up with Cancer Centers of America to provide international standard cancer care for our patients. With CCA’s ties to US university hospitals, we are sure that we will be able to provide best cancer care to the people of Amritsar and Punjab. Speaking on the occasion Ms. Smitha Raju, CEO- Cancer Centers of America said “In the fight against the cancer it is very important to maintain Hope The Booklet of HOPE talks about life after cancer treatment, an approach to holistic health- Physical, Emotional, Mental, Social and Spiritual health. This is booklet covers why it is important to have continuous follow up with the cancer specialist, what changes one must make in his/her lifestyle, food .


Speaking on the occasion S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Hon’ble Speaker of Punjab Vidhan Sabha said “It is very painful to seeing the increase of cancer patients in Punjab and in India as a whole, and how many of us have lost loved ones or dear friends to this disease. The reported cancer incidence in India in 2024 is close to 24 lakh people, but according to studies, it is estimated that the true number is 1.5 to 3 times higher, which is why we need to both build awareness and take action to fight this disease. I am honored to be invited as a chief guest for the inauguration of Cancer Centers of America, Amritsar and I am privileged to dedicate the cancer helpline no: 0183-6669999 for the early detection and prevention of cancer program for the state of Punjab.


CCA has launched two important programs today, along with its facility inauguration: i.e the Free Cancer Helpline No: 0183-6669999 for the entire Punjab region which intends to build awareness and the Cancer Caravan, which is a fully equipped, state of the art cancer screening bus that will conduct free screening camps in 30 villages and towns, throughout Punjab.


The 24x7 Free Cancer Helpline is accessible to the entire Punjab region, anyone can call and speak to CCA cancer experts and ask any question they have, and the helpline will help clear myths and doubts that anyone has about cancer.


The Cancer Caravan will be going to more than 30 towns and villages across Punjab and will create awareness about benefits of prevention and early cancer detection. Cancer screening camps will be organized for across Punjab and nearby areas for early detection and faster treatment.


A Bike rally was also organized to create awareness for early detection of cancer, in which more 150 bikers from across Punjab participated.
